The Uganda
martyrs
A humble people;
Charles Lwanga and companions,
Driven by a
relentless conviction,
Call it naive
following or blind faith,
They set an
invaluable example of faith..
Their heroic
sacrifice, for an ideal only but new to them,
Neither fire,
spittle, ostracism nor death scaring them;
Withstanding Threat
and persecution…
Holding on to
the heavenly reward,
Being killed; by
fire and beating; and not flinching,
They exemplified
virtue,
Purity in
simplicity; love; the ultimate sacrifice
Now we celebrate
their victory,
The fruits of
their foresight…
We bask under
their umbrella sanctity,
They shade
graces upon us,
Make worthwhile
our spiritual journey
And our
convictions they strengthen.
May we lead in
their example,
Be purified and
purged in our flaws
So that we too
can be worthy of the Ultimate kingdom.
